Franchise Players

FRANCHISE PLAYER ("FP")
 
The intent of this rule is to allow a manager to keep a minor league player that it has drafted on favorable terms, rewarding that manager's foresight. This is carried out by giving a manager the ability to keep this player as a "fifth keeper" provided that the manager remains loyal to the player. The FP tag may only be applied to a player who graduates from that team's minor leagues.The FP tag may only be applied to one player on a team. The FP tag is removed when that team applies the FP tag to another player, when that player is dropped, traded, or not kept. Players currently tagged as FP are:
